THE CHORE
FOUNDATION

We are a family-centric organization committed to increasing neighborhood access to education, mentorship, and technical training and expertise.

MISSION.

We strive to improve the standard of living and socio-economic status of inner city residents so that they become a vital part of the growing 21st century construction workforce.

APPROACH.

We follow a two-pronged approach to true empowerment:

Professional Development

  • Training that builds job skills in industries that need workers

  • Mentorship, real-world job experience and opportunities

Personal Development

  • Life skills guidance and training
  • Partnership with community groups focused on improving well-being from the inside out

Our programs strengthen each participant’s commitment to pursue future career aspirations: we teach them the necessary abilities and skills to succeed in construction-related trade industry jobs, and, on the whole, help them live more productive, rewarding lives.

HISTORY.

The CHORE Foundation was founded and established as a non-profit organization by the Gray Family in Chicago, IL in 2014. Our board is made up of construction leaders, trade advocates and community activists.

The Grays, a family of seven (4 boys and 1 girl), understand the need to supply critical resources to our residents in order to make a positive impact on our future. Their goal is to ensure that the youth and adults of Chicago’s most underrepresented neighborhoods reach their full potential.

Why the Ant in our logo? Ants are the ultimate team workers. When they get together and pool their muscle power they can do remarkable things. More powerful together than they are individually, in a single year an ant colony can move roughly 50 tons of soil.

Our logo also embodies the importance of learning and education, for this is, ultimately, what enables participants to tap into their super strengths! Regardless of a person’s size, we believe they are able to do the unthinkable!

PARTNERS.

We partner with local institutions, workforce development programs, labor-management organizations, and various industry organizations. By offering more opportunities for job training, we have a stronger chance to impact the community-as-a-whole through viable employment options and increased economic opportunities.

Partnerships are also part of our goal to increase the participation of under-represented groups in internships, fellowships, traineeships, and employment in the trades.
